This is particularly true of the diagnostic imaging sector: Japan boasts the highest number of CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanners per capita in the world and manages a substantial volume of medical images from both urgent care settings as well as through comprehensive health check-up and disease screening infrastructures.

Our goal is to leverage this medical imaging data to develop advanced AI systems that distill the expertise of highly specialized physicians. In doing so, we aim to reduce the burden that doctors face while improving the quality and safety of healthcare worldwide. Furthermore, with the integration of the latest communication technologies such as 5G, remote diagnostic support becomes feasible.

Beyond diagnostic imaging, we are also advancing the role of AI in disease treatment itself. By integrating AI into various pharmaceutical R&D processes, we are enhancing efficiency across the entire drug development value chain, spanning from the evaluation of new compounds and medicine design to safety trials and risk prediction. AI is also poised to play a crucial role in aiding the diagnosis of rare diseases and stratifying patients to predict treatment response and potential side effects. Moreover, AI has the potential to support surgical procedures, both intraoperatively as well as during the subsequent recovery and rehabilitation phases.
