Tokyo, Japan – July 31 , 2019 – LPIXEL Inc., a leader in image analysis and processing in life science and medical research, announced today that it will be presenting the latest in development of its AI-assisted colonoscopy during United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW), scheduled to take place from October 19-23 in Barcelona, Spain.

This research is funded by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development, and LPIXEL is a joint research partner to the Jikei University School of Medicine. During UEGW, the Jikei University School of Medicine and LPIXEL will be presenting the results of the clinical trials which commenced in January 2019.

Until now, many studies in the past have used colonoscopy videos to validate the performance of AI-assisted colonoscopy technologies. In this research, the analysis and evaluation of the AI-assisted colonoscopy was conducted in real-time in a clinical setting. The results of the evaluation revealed that the lesion detection capabilities of the system reached an accuracy level comparable to that of an endoscopist. LPIXEL will work in parallel to apply further improvements to the technology based on the evaluation and continue the development of the function to support differential diagnosis.
