LPIXEL and Konica Minolta Partner to Deploy Medical Imaging Diagnostic Support AI “EIRL” in ASEAN

The partnership aims to bridge healthcare disparities and alleviate radiologist shortages in emerging markets

TOKYO, [Month] [Day], 2026 – LPIXEL Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Tomihisa Kamada; hereinafter “LPIXEL”) has entered into a distributorship agreement with Konica Minolta, Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshimitsu Taiko; hereinafter “Konica Minolta”) to market “EIRL”,  LPIXEL’s medical imaging diagnostic support AI series in the Southeast Asian market.

This partnership will utilize Konica Minolta’s robust global sales network to launch the EIRL product line in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand, thereby supporting local medical institutions in enhancing the efficiency and quality of diagnostic imaging.

Konica Minolta provides medical equipment and services to Asia and emerging markets, and has a proven track record of deploying X-ray systems and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) tailored to local needs. By combining Konica Minolta’s solutions with the EIRL series, this partnership will further strengthen diagnostic imaging workflows and contribute to reducing the burden on healthcare professionals.

Medical device regulatory approval for EIRL has already been obtained in six ASEAN countries — Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, alongside Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand (*1). Building on this latest milestone, LPIXEL will accelerate its international expansion alongside its distribution partners, working toward a future where medical AI is a standard of care everywhere.

[Background] Addressing Physician Shortages and Medical Access Disparities in Southeast Asia

In the rapidly developing Southeast Asian region, expanding medical infrastructure has become an urgent priority. In particular, disparities in medical access between urban and rural areas, as well as chronic shortages of physicians, represent critical social issues. Comparing the number of physicians per 1,000 population to Japan (2.61), the figures for Thailand (0.93), Vietnam (0.83), and Indonesia (0.70) remain at approximately one-third of Japan’s level (*2).

In this environment, the shortage of radiologists specializing in diagnostic imaging is even more pronounced. While early detection of respiratory diseases such as tuberculosis is critical, the image reading workload per physician has reached its limits, driving an urgent need for greater efficiency and standardization in medical imaging.

Under these circumstances, Konica Minolta has widely deployed X-ray diagnostic systems and PACS in the region, delivering solutions closely aligned with clinical settings. Meanwhile, LPIXEL’s EIRL series has built a strong track record in Japan, having been implemented in more than 1,200 facilities across all 47 prefectures, with a cumulative total of over 16 million analyses performed. Through this partnership, both companies will leverage their respective strengths to promote the use of AI as a standard part of diagnostic imaging across the Asian region.
